So here are some pictures of my classroom sans scholars. Let's just say that it is still not completely ready, but that I am just pretending that it is.
Yes, those are tennis balls on the bottom of each and every chair. It's to protect my beautiful, beautiful, beautiful tile floor which was installed mid-way through last year. It was promised in the previous summer. In the top-right corner you can see my brand-new television/dvd/VHS player which was installed on the last day of school last year. It was also promised the previous summer. Finally the walls are the bright, stimulating celery green color that I painted them last summer. Let's just say this room has been in-progress for two years...and it finally has all of the pieces it needs.
Well. Except for the GIANT kid-sized hole I have in one of my walls.
Seriously though, my school is beautiful. We have giant classrooms -- mine overlooks the park next door. I currently only have *ahem* 11 students (I have 15 on my roster, but 4 haven't shown yet -- they probably will after Labor Day weekend). We have incredibly dedicated teachers, and we have reading materials up that wazoo (math, social studies and science are non-existent though). I have FOUR working computers with internet access (thanks to a lovely grant), working AC, and lots and lots of great children's books.
These kids will succeed.
(And I know that this post is really hard to follow, but I am not in a mental state to correct it right now. Too much playing teacher today.)
