Another fine day spent hiking in Shenandoah National Park. Again, it was lovely.

We hiked up to a big waterfall and some pretty views of the valley. We went with Jamie's friend Kirsten -- who just happens to a pretty avid hiker. Suffice to say I was the lamebutt of the group.
Around mile 5 of our 6.7 mile hike I experienced the most excruciating pain of my life. I'm talking bad. Worse even than that time that I tore every ligament in my left knee at once. That time when I had a papercut in my eye? Playing with puppies compared to this. I had the most incredible leg cramp in both legs. Entire legs felt like they were being ripped out. At first I laughed because I could not believe that a charlie horse could feel so bad. Then, it entered my mind that these cramps were not getting better with time and I started flat-out screaming...and although I was aware that it sounded as though I was giving birth in the woods, it felt so good to scream that loud. Kirsten dubbed it "the most pain she has ever heard in her life".
So if at 2pm you heard a someone screaming, that was me with a couple of leg cramps that would not quit. Shenandoah 2, Melissa 0.

Strangely enough, I got a real bad cramp in my calf while playing basketball at about 11 am Pacific time, so about the same time you got your historic leg cramps. (Cue Twilight Zone music.) Leg cramps suck. It's two days later and my calf is still sore. At least you got one too so it's not just that I'm freaking old.
That is kind of freaky. Did you scream in pain, or did you take it like an adult?
Hee. You're old.
